Summary: This dissertation has as title: Democratic management in rural education in the Municipality of Domingos Martins/ES. What led us to it was the perception of the difficulties of schools and communities to exercise democracy in the most radical perspective, with greater autonomy and emancipation in management in the municipality. We chose as a problem: How can a conception of the management of Education in the Countryside be thought and organized, WHERE the governmental democratization allows the self-organization of the community around the school units to be determinant in this management process? To seek answers to the problem question, we understand that our General Objective should be limited to proposing a way of rethinking and, consequently, provoking an organization in the management of Municipal Education in Domingos Martins/ES, so that the self- organization of the communities is concretized in the processes of Education of the Martinense countryside. In view of this, we have designed the following specific objectives: To understand the paradigm of democratic-participative management and its contributions to the self-organized management of the Education in the field; To analyze the current management from its official documents and from the subjects that act in the education of the Municipality of Domingos Martins; To suggest, from the qualitative documental analysis, a model or a product that promotes the direct participation of the School Community in the Process of School Management. For this, we use a qualitative methodology of document analysis and set as our theoretical reference the Freirean concept of school democratization and denunciation to centralized and elitist management. In the documental analysis, we select only those parts of the municipality documents that concern the following aspects of educational management: theoretical assumptions, conception of management, conception of participation, conception of decentralization and institutional autonomy, participative instances and the functioning of the instances. As a product of this research, we present a suggestive design of the Popular Council of Education, through which a democratic, self-organizing school management of the community as a whole is sought.
