Summary: The paper is a study focused on the teaching of history with a theoretical approach in New History (BURKE, 1992). It aims to analyze how high school history teachers have approached the Local History of Venda Nova do Imigrante - ES, looking for clues and signs of other cultures beyond Italian immigration that impacted/impacts on the cultural formation and identities of vendanovenses. The development of the research sought to map the experiences of teachers who work in Venda Nova do Imigrante, in four schools that offer the high school stage, based on the Thematic Oral History methodology (MEIHY, 1996, 2002, 2019); (DELGADO, 2006). The route points out that working with Local History has been a challenge for teachers. In their narratives, they point out challenges and possibilities in working on Local History, especially when one wants to approach identities, denouncing that historical records privilege Italian culture to the detriment of black, indigenous and other migrants. This work addressed the history of Local History (GONÇALVES, 2007); (SCHMIDT, 2004, 2007), its concepts and its space in the classroom, to understand how this can be the driving force in the teaching-learning process in the valorization of vendanovenses cultural identities (RUSEN, 2001).
