Summary: This research is linked to the Professional Master's Program in Education at the Federal University of Espírito Santo, in the research line Educational Practices, Diversity and School Inclusion, and will investigate the themes of whiteness and institutional racism. The objective is to understand how whiteness impacts the production of institutional racism at the Federal University of Espírito Santo. As theoretical contributions, we will establish dialogues with Neusa Santos Souza (2021), Cida Bento (2022), Frantz Fanon (2008) and Lia Schucman (2020). As a methodology, our data production will be based on exploratory qualitative research, using semi-structured interviews in questionnaires applied in individualized interviews. The target subjects of the research are graduate students and public servants who self-declare as white and self-declare as black in management, teaching and technical-administrative positions in education. According to the research findings, we conclude that whiteness manifests itself in a diffuse manner in the organizational culture of the Federal University of Espírito Santo, confirming what the theoretical references of this work indicate, highlighting that this is the source of institutional racism at the university, affecting the professional trajectory of its employees and students.
